“We’re always hearing how the textile industry is one of the world’s most polluting industries. Norwegians throw away 23 kilos of clothes each per. This is probably not an exception in the Western world. Interest in the environment and sustainability is higher than ever before and I think it is important for people who want to change their lifestyle to have access to the right tools and assistance. I want this book to be just such a tool – a tool that can help encourage recycling while sparking inventiveness and creative joy,” says the author.

Clothing redesign is a fun, creative way to design your own wardrobe while gaining a greater and more personal relationship to the process of making clothes. You can draw a lot of inspiration from an existing item of clothing or an old tablecloth. Which parts of it take your fancy and what would you rather cut off or alter? There are so many wonderful treasures lying around in our drawers and cupboards that deserve a longer life.

This book will give you tips on how to sew new clothes out of old textiles to create an environmentally friendly summer wardrobe – a wraparound skirt, a tie-front blouse, a bikini, a summer coat, bags and small gifts. The patterns are suitable both for beginners and people who have already been sewing for a while.
